Shayde Sartin (born April 1, 1976 in Williamson, West Virginia) is an American musician based in San Francisco, California. He has toured the United States and Europe. He has also performed live and on recordings with multiple bands including Giant Skyflower Band, Citay, The Skygreen Leopards (Jagjaguwar and Soft Abuse Records), Wooden Wand and the Sky High Band (Kill Rock Stars) Flying Canyon (Soft Abuse Records) and with Kelley Stoltz (Sub Pop Records). While touring with Kelley Stoltz, he performed at Lollapalooza in 2006 and Motel Mozaique in 2005.
In early 2008 he formed San Francisco garage/psych/punk band The Fresh & Onlys with Timothy Cohen. The two started collaborating as a lo-fi duo intending only to release cassettes of home recorded pop experiments. The recordings quickly gained the attention of local peers including John Dwyer and Kelley Stoltz. Both offered to put out their first two releases. Stoltz’s own imprint, Chuffed, put out their first 7″ EP Imaginary Friends. That was followed immediately by their first full-length record, The Fresh & Onlys, on John Dwyer and Matt Jones’ newly conceived Castle Face Records. The band toured extensively from 2008 to 2015 releasing countless 7″s and records.
In 2006, he had begun collaborating and recording with Sonny Smith as well. These recordings would eventually become the first Sonny & The Sunsets album Tomorrow Is Alright (Fat Possum/Soft Abuse) released in 2008. Years later, in 2013, Sartin began collaborating with Sonny Smith again leading to 2015’s Talent Night at the Ashram (Polyvinyl) and 2016’s Moods Baby Moods (Polyvinyl).
In 2016 he joined Mike Donovan (formerly of Sic Alps) and Mike Shoun (Thee Ohsees) to record Peacers second full-length album due out in 2017 on Drag City.
